This morning, we were reminded of something rather surprising that was originally brought to Fields Data Recovery’s attention in August of this year: two-thirds of all data stored on primary storage drives has not been accessed in more than six months.
In other words, if you have 200GB of data stored on your hard drive, then 132GBs worth is being used to store data that you don’t access and, quite possibly, don’t need.
So, why not give your hard drive or other storage media a spring clean! Check the files that you have stored and delete any that you don’t need. You’ll probably be surprised with how much storage space you’ll free up and, as you won’t need an enormous secondary drive, it’ll be easier to back up your vital data, too.
